Thailand
Temples, islands and a first trip that rarely goes wrong
About Thailand
Thailand is the most forgiving international destination for Indian travellers — excellent tourism infrastructure, short flights, and a straightforward pairing of one city with one island.
The standard route, and why it works
Almost every good Thailand itinerary pairs one city with one island group. Bangkok supplies temples, markets and food; the south supplies beaches. Six days is enough for that pairing. Nine days lets you add Chiang Mai in the north, which is cooler, slower and the part most travellers say they wish they had given more time.
Bangkok deserves more than a transit night
Bangkok is often treated as an airport with a city attached. It rewards two full days — the Grand Palace and Wat Pho in one morning, the canals by longtail boat, and a night market in the evening. Traffic is the constraint, so plan by neighbourhood rather than by ticking off a list.
When to go
November to February is the cool dry season and the most comfortable time to walk around cities. March to May is genuinely hot. June to October is the monsoon, which brings lower prices and short heavy showers rather than washed-out days.
What it costs
Roughly ₹55,000–90,000 per person excluding international flights, depending on length and whether you include the north. Thailand’s tourism infrastructure is mature, which mostly means fewer unpleasant surprises.
