Singapore

A compact city-state that works well with children and first-timers

About Singapore

Singapore is small enough to see properly in three or four days, and its public transport, safety and food make it the easiest introduction to travelling abroad for families and first-time travellers.

How many days Singapore actually needs

Three to four days. The city-state is compact and the metro reaches almost everything worth seeing, so itineraries longer than that tend to pad. This is why Singapore is so often combined with Malaysia — a coach crossing turns two short trips into one properly paced week.

Why it suits families and first-timers

Singapore removes most of the anxiety from a first trip abroad. Tap water is drinkable, the metro is simple to navigate, English is widely spoken, and Indian food is genuinely everywhere rather than an afterthought. For travellers nervous about a first international holiday, it is the gentlest possible start.

What it costs

Roughly ₹50,000–60,000 per person for a short trip excluding flights, and ₹80,000–90,000 for the Malaysia combination. Singapore is the most expensive country in Southeast Asia for hotels, which is the main reason trips stay short.

When to go

Singapore sits near the equator and is warm and humid year-round, so there is no bad season — only wetter months. Rain arrives as short heavy bursts. February to April is marginally drier.
